Crossing the Huajiang Bridge from Shuanyuan Park will lead to Huajiang Wild Duck Nature Park. As it is a swarm covered with willows with a spacious shoal and wetland under Huajiang Bridge, the area has always been the habitat of migratory birds. From September to April, Anatidae birds and waders, such as the Eurasian teal (Anas crecca), garganey (Spatula querquedula), and eastern spot-billed duck (Anas zonorhyncha), will visit the area. During the migratory bird season, flocks of wild ducks gathering on the waters between Huajiang Bridge and Zhongxing Bridge attract innumerous birdwatchers to visit the area for birdwatching. For citizens to watch these migratory birds more conveniently, the Animal Protection Office and Huajiant Community Development Association co-organize the “Huajiang Wild Duck Festival” each year, hoping that this area can bring citizens a different play feeling.
Occupying a site area of about 3,000m2, the project fund was about NT$28 million. As there is more space for exercise than for children to play, and a wild duct refuge is nearby, this project combines the wild duck theme with the children’s playground. The wild duck image is created with the pavement to provide citizens with a refreshing playground.
