Centennial hot springs and Lion Dance in Beitou
Beitou is rich in folk culture and is renowned for its hot springs as well as a variety of folkloric arts and crafts. The Beitou Hot Spring Museum was formerly a Beitou Public Bathhouse, which was once the largest in Southeast Asia and had a significant influence on hot spring culture. Beitou is also the birthplace of Beitou Lion Dance Troupes, with a “lions’ den” of up to 20 lion dance troupes at its peak This design combines these two characteristics to showcase the past prosperity of Beitou. It highlights the Beitou Lions and hot spring culture from a bottom-up perspective, allowing people to experience Beitou’s century-old charm.
ravel through time for a cool summer in Beitou
The origin of the Beitou Cooling Summer Festival dates back to the Japanese colonial period. It was one of Taiwan’s early important leisure and tourism activities, where people would take trains to Beitou on summer nights to watch performances, fireworks, and enjoy delicious food. This design adopted a bird’s eye view perspective and boards a time-traveling train to explore Beitou’s hundred-year history, allowing everyone to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the Cooling Summer Festival.
