Heshuang No 21 Riverside Park

Riverside Parks in Taipei

Located between Zhoumei Street and the floodplain on the right bank of the down reach of Shuangxi Bridge, the Heshuang No 21 Riverside Park occupies an area of about 31,000m2. It is very convenient to travel from the park to the Shuangxi Riverside Park via the bikeway approach or to the Bailing Right Bank Riverside Park via "Hougang Bridge No. 1." Here, you can enjoy and take photos of the sunset, watching its glow reflected on the gentle water surface for the long river sunset view. Although the Heshuang No 21 Riverside Park is not spacious, it is quite famous. It is very busy every summer because of the "eye-dotting" ceremony before the dragon boat competition at Dragon Boat Festival held here. It is also a place for watching the power and beauty of dragon boat competitions. There is also a small pier in the northwest corner of the park, where speedboats launch during the water rescue drill.

Qu-Yuan Temple
It is the unique Qu-Yuan Temple in Taiwan and the origin of the dragon boat competition. Built in 1977, the temple was completed and deities were enshrined on the 10th of the tenth lunar month in 1980. When surveying official Yi-Gui Zhu of the Ming dynasty came to time for anti-Qing dynasty, a person surnamed Guo brough the idol of Yuan Qu to Taiwan. When the revolt failed, the idol was left behind for people to worship. At the beginning, villagers held a grand ritual on the 10th of the tenth lunar month every year with the deity's approval confirmed by throwing divining blocks. Later, it became a ceremony for association and gathering.
