Fuan Riverside Park

Riverside Parks in Taipei

Located between the end of Lane 27, Section 7, Yanping North Road and outside of the levee at Lane 107, the Fuan Riverside Park occupies an area of 3,302m2. The jetty, old banyan trees, temple attendants, and old fishermen in the park are the best portrayal. Shezidao is an alluvial island emerged from water after the formation of the Taipei Basin with a history of only 100 years or so. Therefore, local old fishmen have lots of legends and anecdotes. At low tide, sampans have already berthed on the floodplain, and fishermen gather under the banyan tree for a cup of tea. Speaking of the past, seniors have begun to talk about the past and present of Shezidao. According to them, Shezidao was like an isolated island, and people needed to take a boat to travel to Taipei, Shilin, Luzhou, Beitou, Guandu, etc. As they talk, a smile unfolds on their wrinkled faces. In the summer afternoon, the tale of this little fishing village makes people fly across time-space in mind. Currently, a jetty is kept next to Fuan Temple for visitors to express their remembrance of the past.

Jetty
There are a few sampans berthing at a jetty near the Fuan Riverside Park. To older locals, this is a déjà-vu scene, because the film Beautiful Duckling starring bygone actress Pao-Yun Tang and actor Hsiang-Ting Ko was filmed there. It is not difficult for old lovers to recall the past from the scene. They can also recollect the films of yesteryear and the beautiful old times from the scenes of the river.

Shezidao Entrance Image
At the entrance to Shezidao stands a bike-pump-styled kiosk. At the wall on the opposite side, the lyrics by Chun-Lin Yeh of Sunset at Tamsui and arrangement by I-Feng Hung was hollowed out on the cloud-shaped flat gong. They were Wen-Shan Fang and Jay Chou in the 1940s! Coming to the Fuan Riverside Park from the Yanping Riverside Park, visitors can directly enter Shezidao.
