Nanhu Left Bank Riverside Park

Riverside Parks in Taipei

Located between the Nanhu Bridge and Chenggong Bridge over the Keelung River, the Nanhu Right Bank Riverside Park occupies an area of about 66,000m2.

The Chenggong Bridge spans across the Keelung River to link Neihu and Songshan, while the Nanhu Bridge upstream connects Neihu and Nangang. The Nanhu Left Bank Riverside Park sits between the Chenggong Bridge and Nanhu Bridge (Songshan-Nangang side). In the park, the bikeway almost runs beneath Huandong Expressway. The bikeway and the riverbank form a gorgeous double arch. Cycling along is thus exceptionally refreshing. The great green meadow by the lane meanders along the lane, and the light of the sky is reflected in the Keelung River, making it easy to capture the sense of speed without any deliberate layout. The park is also equipped with basketball courts and horizontal bars to provide citizens with equipment and space for exercising.

Knowledge Tips

Nangang
The Nanhu Left Bank Riverside Park is located in Nangang District. According to history records, it was a river harbor in the Qing dynasty. In 1736, the 2nd year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Minnan people began to cultivate Nangang. It is said that mainlanders came here for cultivation via the Tamsui River and then the Keelung River after landing on "Gangzikou," which was located on the south bank of the Keelung River, corresponding to Beigang (present-day Beigang Village in Xizhi) in Xizhi City. This harbor was thus called "Nangang" (lit. south harbor).
