A large piece of sandbar wetland near the Huajiang Bridge has been the habitat of many migratory birds. From every September to April, thousands of wild ducks and waders visit here.
To enhance the education and promotion of ecological conservation, the Huajiang Wild Duck Festival, a big bird-watching event, is held every year during the bird migration season. In addition, guided tours are arranged on holidays. The Huajiang Wild Duck Nature Park is located outside of the levee, and major wild bird observation area located in the Huajiang Wild Duck Nature Park and Huazhong Riverside Park. They are well-equipped to facilitate citizens to watch birds in the areas. The river course under the Huajiang Bridge is very wide. Here, the entire Banqiao District is in sight. The grey, hazy city with green waterweed and indigo river sitting beside forms a wonderful scene showing the harmony of man and nature.

Huajiang Wild Duck Nature Park
The park is located next to the Taipei Wild Duck Reserve. The buffering greenery of the reserve occupies an area of about 28 hectares. It is a special ecological conservation park where there are educational, habitat restoration, and greening facilities. In the park there is the sustainable development area, buffering area, and core area. The core area is planned for wildlife conservation. The sustainable development area and buffering area are for bird-watching and recreation.
